About Broward Shipyard:

In 1948 Frank Denison acquired Dooley's Dry Dock. In 1953 he started to operate under the County name Broward Marine and in the first four years, he successfully contracted various military vessels from 144' to 173' for the Dutch and U.S. Navy. Broward Marine became the largest private employer in Broward County.

After the demand for minesweepers dropped, thanks to the conclusion of World War II, Broward Marine started to build custom yachts when the hull and superstructure materials changed from wood to aluminum, and the yachts became larger and larger.

In the 70's and early 80's Denison's sons entered the shipyard and the company started to build more and more yachts, providing full refit and maintenance services throughout. Over time, approximately 300 Broward yachts had been successfully launched and delivered to their owners.

The company exchanged hands with various owners over the years. In July 2009 a new company was incorporated, Broward Shipyard, Inc., by Bruce and Chris Moore at the same facility location.
